Jeg,
I don't have the courage. It's just like when people only sing in the shower... well you get the point. People can be harsh, and I'm too onion skinned to even risk, hehe.

If I may... If you want people to read your novel, Franzi, consider giving it away for free via download. The reason those authors are in the bargain bin is probably because no one has heard of them or their work. By giving it away for free, you get the assurance that people know you and the book exist, and will be more interested in your subsequent work if the one they downloaded was good.

I'm deathly afraid and worried that if and when I pursue my dream of writing a novel, it may end up in the "100 peso" bargain books in NBS. I can't imagine the humiliation of unknown foreign novelists whose hard bound books are often on the "bargain" section of NBS because the bookstore only wants to get rid of it, alongside back-issue magazines. (Check out their Cubao branch.) I imagine how much time, money and effort the authors put in to have it published, only to find out no one has read their work. Should the writers happen to visit Manila and find out (not a remote possibility),that must surely hurt.
