Help, all my photos are blurry.
1. The still photo setting on my pocket video recorder is a little tricky. Please email me your photos of the Meet & Greet with Jon.
2. Jon is way cuter in person than in photos.
3. I am a midget.
Thanks to listbonne, Elle, ifrico, Jeffrey, Ruth, jules, Watermalong, the chronicler of boredom, brewhuh23, atomic_bum, and Jon for coming to the Meet & Greet at La Cuisine.
Jon has just been named captain of the Manila Nomads rugby team.
Momelia, you were sorely missed. (I didn’t read your message until I got home so we figured you’d stood us up because you were horrible haha.) Apologies to the two who didn’t join the group (I tried to murder their books), but the point of the meet & greet was for the readers to mingle, not have the waiter summon me for a private signing. It takes effort to plan these things you know.
Cacs, bomberman and winespirits, you can pick up your orders at La Cuisine.
Random matters discussed at the meet: Favorite death scenes in movies.
listbonne: John Travolta’s in Phenomenon
brewhuh23: Obi Wan-Kenobi in Star Wars
Me: Boromir in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Jon: Satine in Moulin Rouge

2. Jon is way cuter in person than in photos. >>> I agree!
3. I am a midget. >>> I don’t agree! Hahaha!
Had a blast meeting everyone, the chica, the books :D Letts do it again hahaha!
Momelia, we seriously need to hook up! Got lots to talk about hehe :D
Thank you again Jessica for making the meet & greet possible :) I need to sleep or else I won’t be useful for Sunday school later :) Night! Or actually good morning hahaha :D
December 12th, 2010 at 05:43
I think he’s a good-looking guy. Maybe he looks better without the blurry effect. Just kidding. Cheers!!!
December 12th, 2010 at 09:56
Point #2: True that! I had that in my head the whole night but hesitated to blurt it out (of course, after he had gone) lest I’d sound, um, rude. *kilig*
December 12th, 2010 at 10:01
You’re welcome, Jessica. And thank you for the opportunity to meet you in person. As for Jon, when he entered La Cuisine, we had a one second eye contact (ay kileegsss to the bone marrow ang lola haha). Pretty interesting individuals at the meet and greet but needed to run after getting Twisted 9. There is such thing as ‘Meet, Greet and Run’ haha
December 12th, 2010 at 10:52
haven’t been dropping by your blog lately. but hey, nice hairdo. :D
OK, Jon is cute.
December 12th, 2010 at 11:21
ifrico: He would look even better on video—seen and heard. So where do you stand on our current conundrum: Would you prefer that a guy look fabulous in photos but “Huh?!” in person, or “Ngek” in photos but fabulous in person? In other words what is more important: real life or facebook?
Thanks for coming to the Meet&Greet on Xmas Party Traffic Hell Weekend!
December 12th, 2010 at 11:25
jules: Thanks for dropping by, we know getting around town yesterday was a giant pain. Have a stress-free holiday season!
December 12th, 2010 at 11:28
julesmariano: Thank you, the hair is by Jay Lozada. I am forbidden to use product and I hate blow-drying. So that is wash and wear hair! Jay is a genius.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:57
I had a nice time with everyone last night. Just realized, we should have made Jon do his “kawawa” face last night.
jessica: I can’t believe that hair is wash and wear. It really is great.
December 12th, 2010 at 13:58
It was nice seeing everyone. I was extremely late but got to sit beside Jon. Nyahahaha!”He who comes last shall be the first”.
December 12th, 2010 at 14:11
I’ll try to send pictures later. I’m having internet connection problems.
December 12th, 2010 at 17:29
The hard boiled egg story — classic!
I wouldn’t able to look at hard boiled eggs the same way again hahahaha!
December 12th, 2010 at 17:59
I agree, tres(s) chic!
Would you prefer that a guy look fabulous in photos but “Huh?!” in person, or “Ngek” in photos but fabulous in person?
Well, it depends. It’s not as if I regularly get to meet and talk with guys who look gorgeous in photos. For that kind I won’t mind even if they’re gargoyles in person– so long as I’m not aware.
Jon Jon Jon Jon Jon Jon. May pag-asa pa si Jake sa akin (no offense)!
December 12th, 2010 at 19:12
Thanks, Jessica. Dropped by La Cuisine this afternoon, totally forgot it was a Sunday. Will get the books tomorrow. Thanks!
December 12th, 2010 at 20:28
Hi Jessica! Thanks again for signing the books. Really sorry I wasn’t able to stay. It was really nice meeting you and Jon does look way cuter in person. Thanks again!
December 12th, 2010 at 20:48
I would love to attend the next meet-and-greet. :-)
Is the pool still on or do we just have to wait for the book to be released in bookstores?
December 12th, 2010 at 22:58
#9 listbonne —Oohh we forgot to ask him to do that hehe :)
#10 chronicler — Hahahaha! Again, you are taller than I remembered :)
# 13 ifrico — Twas nice meeting you. If you need to strike a conversation with Darwin, tell him you met me hahaha!
Jessica — the wash and wear hair works! And about your query to ifrico, I choose real life hehe. But I guess in the end, for me, personality ALWAYS wins :)
December 12th, 2010 at 23:45
Ang taas na pala ng hairline ko. @_@
December 13th, 2010 at 00:05
I like his smile better than…
December 13th, 2010 at 00:21
@ #17brewhuh 23: Being tall has its pros and cons. Pro: In a congested LRT or MRT car, you can breathe freely instead of inhaling somebody’s armpit(but they inhale mine). Con: The dangling handles bop your face and forehead while the train lurches on its track.

Kaye: Jon wants to learn to speak Bisaya and the best way to learn is to have a girlfriend who speaks Bisaya. Do you speak Bisaya? (Hahaha chismosa pakialamera)
December 13th, 2010 at 01:08
ifrico: Bangs?
December 13th, 2010 at 01:09
Evan: Could the pool designate someone to pick up the copies at Wild Ginger in Rockwell this week? We can deliver most afternoons, just say when.
December 13th, 2010 at 01:50
#18 ifrico — Hindi naman ah :)
#19 Kaye — You should hear his deep, raspy voice too. And of course, his kwentos make a lot of sense :)
December 13th, 2010 at 02:38
“Kaye: Jon wants to learn to speak Bisaya and the best way to learn is to have a girlfriend who speaks Bisaya. Do you speak Bisaya? (Hahaha chismosa pakialamera)”
Ouch! My broken heart. My third language is Ilocano, but…
Ms Jessica, I WILL [attempt to] LEARN to speak Bisaya for the sake of Jon’s lovely smile (egad! yan ang nagawa ng smile! phone wallpaper na ito!).
Maybe I should make kulit with my Bisaya brother-in-law and my Bisaya friends to teach me the language so I could in turn give Jon-with-the-lovely-smile-and-sexy-shoulders (parang Fed shoulders lang naman!) some pointers, no? (Sige, ipag-diinan daw ba ang Bisaya connection.)
Pasaylo-a ko Jon, dili ko makasulti’g “Cebuano.” Yet.
Maayong gabi-i sa imong yuhom.
December 13th, 2010 at 02:47
#20 chronicler — Yeah, but hey you can reach for things :) I have to take a stool or chair to reach cupboards and stuff like that :)
Jessica — You’re welcome. I’m glad you liked them :) They’re not heavy? I was afraid that they might tug your ears too much.
December 13th, 2010 at 02:50
December 13th, 2010 at 05:50
December 13th, 2010 at 10:08
December 13th, 2010 at 13:19
“Could the pool designate someone to pick up the copies at Wild Ginger in Rockwell this week? We can deliver most afternoons, just say when.”
#23 jessica: Thank you very much! I suggest all of us in the pool pick up our copies. How about Saturday, December 18? Would appreciate it very much, Ms. JZ, if you could make a general announcement/ shout-out here in your blog to all those who signed up with the pool. That way, all 25+ books can be picked up in a single day. Again, thank you, thank you.
December 13th, 2010 at 13:27
avignon: NO. SORRY, WE CANNOT DEAL WITH EVERYONE SHOWING UP. Please designate one person. Also, Saturdays are out of the question. Weekdays only, please.
December 13th, 2010 at 13:34
it was a very pleasant experience. thank you ms z and jon! and of course, the nice people.
December 13th, 2010 at 14:45
Uy, fresh yung naka-yellow. Hai bhie! Muahness from Pasig Cireehhhh!
Wahaha!

December 13th, 2010 at 15:30
Momelia — HAHAHAHA! Ang kulet mo!
December 13th, 2010 at 15:46
Kaye: Sandali.
December 13th, 2010 at 15:46
Hi Jessica – i ordered for 20 copies. However, i haven’t received any email yet. Is it possible to pick it up this Wednesday, 15th, Rockwell at around 7-8pm? Thanks!
December 13th, 2010 at 16:24
techno0506: Apologize for the oversight, the elves are overworked. We can leave your copies at Wild Ginger in the basement of Rockwell for you to pick up on Wednesday. The staff can receive payment. Thank you!
December 13th, 2010 at 16:26
I’d like to add 30 more copies (total of 50). Should I list the names of the receivers here? Thanks.
December 13th, 2010 at 16:29
techno0506: We have just sent an email to your yahoo address. Please send the list in your reply to that email. Thank you!
December 13th, 2010 at 16:31
avignon: Please reply to our email. Thanks.
December 13th, 2010 at 17:02
Copy Jessica – My final order is 65 copies. Already replied to your email. Thanks! =)
December 13th, 2010 at 17:53
#41 jessica: The perfect solution. Thank you very much! Replied to your email.
December 13th, 2010 at 18:04
I’m terribly unphotogenic :(. I’ve never been able to figure out how to pose for pictures.
Thanks to everyone for showing up and thanks Jessica for all the beers and snails.
I do want to learn Ilocano too because my mom is half ilocano but bisaya first because it just seems easier, I’m there more often, and I want to move to Cebu.
December 13th, 2010 at 18:09
jonnymo: Cue violins! Kaye! Kaye! Kaye!
December 13th, 2010 at 19:14
Since no one from the pool is budging, I’d like to make a suggestion.
To set a method to this madness once and for all, everyone who’s part of the pool please shoot me a message at facebook. (My name is linked to my profile; if you don’t have an account, make one for this express purpose.) Let’s meet in Rockwell on a set date (a weekday, as mentioned by Jessica), pool our money, send someone to Wild Ginger, and grab our copies.
Should you ask me to pick up your copy to be retrieved on a much later date, that’s okay too — on the condition that would pay me an extra twenty pesos for each copy that you want, in advance of course, as a guarantee that you would actually get your copy, and also for the effort. (Nothing comes for free! Unless you’re my friend, of course.)
Either that or ask someone (a friend, a relative, your household help) to come on the set date with the rest of us.
Or convince Jessica to throw another meet-and-greet, which I guess would be more fun. :-)
Takers?
December 13th, 2010 at 19:17
Ms Z and Avignon may arrangement na for the pool? Sino na mag claim?
December 13th, 2010 at 20:38
Paumanhin na kung nakikisali ako dito.
Cue banshee scream: “Bisaya?! . . . OhMyGed . . . Chaaaaannnccce!!!”
Asa man nimo gusto magsugod, ‘dong? < should be said with Annabelle's accent
(Saan mo ba gustong magsimula, 'toy?)
December 13th, 2010 at 20:54
#47 tigerstalker, #46 Evan, and other pool members: Apologies for not updating you sooner. I have increased my order from 5 to 10 copies, so I am no longer part of the pool. It is really difficult for me to make the trip from my workplace to Rockwell on a weekday at the height of Christmas traffic insanity. Having my order delivered is infinitely less stressful. tigerstalker, check out Evan’s alternative plan above; it looks feasible. Or perhaps request Jessica if deliveries could be arranged for less than 10 orders (you pay the delivery charge of course).
December 13th, 2010 at 21:09
butoygirl: Ooh plot twist. Butoygirl! Butoygirl! Uuuuuyyyyyy (walang magawa).
December 13th, 2010 at 22:44
Isn’t it interesting that during the Meet and Greet nobody conveyed their “feelings” for Jon(he would have ran out of the venue if everyone did)? Hahaha! It’s like everyone enjoyed it more when they kept their feelings to themselves than letting it all out.The Wong Kar Wai-ness of it. A Tony Leung in a roomful of Maggie Cheungs.

December 13th, 2010 at 23:07
#36 jessicazafra – Miss Jessica, ako ang tipong, “Honey, have you eaten? I cooked [insert name of dish here] for you!”
(Note lang po: Wala akong honey right now.)
Kawawa naman si hon…este! Jon. Bakit sya nagpapaka-gutom? I could cook adobo, kare-kare, nilaga, sinigang, pritong bangus, paksiw, papaitan, chop suey, pancit bihon, pancit canton, payless pancit canton, kimchi fried rice, fried rice lang, tinola, sinampalukan, bototay (or as we Novo Ecijanos say, “batutay!”), menudo, lumpia, lumpiang shanghai, lumpiang ubod, lumpiang hubad…
*ehem! hot jock at a wet market alert!*
He shouldn’t have to go hungry. Kawawa naman si hon…I mean… Jon. Tsk… Tsk…

Bisaya might be easier to learn if you knew neither Cebuano nor Ilocano. Ewan, theory ko lang. When I was a kid, my first language was Ilocano, and then I learned to speak Tagalog/Filipino more when my family moved to another city. Also, I was forced to speak Tagalog since my mom never learned how to speak the dialect in spite of living in a town where 99% of the population spoke Ilocano. She learned all the cuss words, though.
Bas-set laing ‘ti ammo ko nga Ilocano. Haan mit kami agsasao iti Ilocano id’yay balay amin.
#45 jessicazafra
Wow! Love triangle ba ito? Yiheee!
#48 butoygirl

atomic_bum: Of course if it is possible not to post my photos at all I would appreciate it.
December 13th, 2010 at 23:44
@ #52 atomic_bum: Thanks for the photo.
Uuuuuuuuuyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy…
December 13th, 2010 at 23:48
December 13th, 2010 at 23:51
@ #56 Kaye: Bisaya and Cebuano are one and the same. :-)But, Bisaya is not limited to Cebu but spoken in major parts of Visayas and Mindanao, differing only in pronunciation and sentence structure but everyone understands everyone.
Ayan naglecture si Lolo. Hahaha.
December 14th, 2010 at 00:25
Joke.”
December 14th, 2010 at 00:35
#61 the chronicler of boredom
Tenkyu! Thank you! Merci! I’ve been surrounded by Bisaya for more than half of my life, and all I ever learned were cuss words. Shame on me! I’m definitely getting pointers from my brother-in-law about the language (ano po ba ang pinagkaiba sa dialect? I’m confused.) since I’ll be in Cebu next month.
#60 jessicazafra
EEEEK! Breathe! Breathe! Whew!
Maraming salamat sa endorsement. This is priceless! Bibili ako Twisted 9 upang ipamudmod sa aking mga kabarkada at basahin over the Christmas break. When do copies of Twisted 9 arrive at NBS/Powerbooks? And while we’re at it, won’t you have a book launch?
Jon is what my Lola would have called “burara” because he keeps losing things. And my Ilocano powers just might be the perfect antidote to that. There’s a good reason why my elders’ baul have lasted for generations.
(But Jon…I know you’re lurking. Sige, I’ll set up a reminder for myself to remind Ms JZ to remind you–when she has the time–to take your meals and your vitamins. It’s good exercise for Rugby too.)
December 14th, 2010 at 01:50
hi jessica! got the books this afternoon. thank you for signing them! :)

# 10 the chronicler of boredom – Sayang na sayang at di tayo nagpang-abot, bhie!
Wahaha, good morning ladies and gentlemen!
December 14th, 2010 at 10:54
Evan: Sorry i just read your suggestion. I dont have a facebook account :) may nagrespond na ba sa ibang mga pool members? i could also go with your idea kung may na arrange na pala, late na kasi yung suggestion ko (refer to memories of the vortex comments) thanks!
December 14th, 2010 at 11:35
Maraming salamat!
December 14th, 2010 at 12:08
Kaye: No need for a go-between: you can address Jonnymo directly. Uuuuyyyyyyy Jonny mo.
December 14th, 2010 at 12:15
#67 jessicazafra — Holy smokes! How did I miss it? Ako yata ang nalipasan ng gutom!
Johnnymo (ko? :P ) — Please don’t forget to take your lunch, ha? I wish I could send you baon, but I’m stuck in Pasay writing, of all things, social networking policies. (Por ejemplo: The company shall ban access to all blogs, except jessicarulestheuniverse.com.)
Mangan kan, manong, hane?
(That’s Ilocano for “Kain ka na, koya, ok?”)
December 14th, 2010 at 12:17
Kaye: Walang h. I thought you knew, having replied to his comment.
December 14th, 2010 at 12:27
#69 — Whoopsie daisies! My bad! ::hiya! blush!::
Take two!
Jonnymo (ko? :P ) — Please don’t forget to take your lunch, ha?
Mangan kan, hane?
Kaon ta! (I think this one is Ilonggo. Please paki-confeeerm, dear Bisayas and Ilonggos in the House of Jessica.)
Mangan tayon! (Let’s eat!)
December 14th, 2010 at 12:29
# 64 Momelia — In the words of the Star for all seasons, “It’s not my fault anymore… it’s you fault —- anymore! LOL! Epekto to ng ammonia!!! Nakabili ka na ba? Bigyan kita! Hahahaha!
December 14th, 2010 at 12:35
@Kaye: “Koya”? Lovelife-limiting, dapat ibang term of endearment.
December 14th, 2010 at 12:47
ifrico: Oo nga, parang humihingi ng day off.
December 14th, 2010 at 13:05
@ Kaye — Oo nga, ibahin mo na lang. Hon is good — para rhyming. Jon = Hon hehehe :) Ang tamisssssss! Hahaha!
December 14th, 2010 at 13:07
Evan, tigerstalker, and others who signed up with the pool, kindly check out the post “Memories of the vortex” (Dec. 14) for winnerific’s suggestion on how to pick up your copies. Thanks.
# 4 Ron Tab (5 copies)
# 30 brainchild (2 copies)
# 36 tigerstalker (3 copies)
# 52 angus25 (2 copies)
# 63 tala (2 copies)

# 98 sirius black (2 copies)
December 14th, 2010 at 14:03
#72 ifrico — Agree. Hindi ko na rin tatawaging “manong” si jonnyko so it won’t translate to “koya”.
#73 jessicazafra — ay! bawal pa akong mag-day off. martes pa lang (which means wednesday bukas, ang favorite day ng mga tambay sa Jessicarulestheuniverse.com. isang tulog na lang!). I will not call Jon “koya” for sure, and definitely not “ading” or “balong”
(Jonnymo — the former means “kapatid” or generic, non-gender based term for brother/sister, while the latter means son/grandson. Usually, it’s a term of endearment that moms and grandmoms use.
According to my online sleuthing, here are the Bisaya equivalents:
sister/sibling/brother — igsuon
son — anak nga lalaki
Mga fabulous Bisaya in the house, paki-confeeerm po ulit. Helf! Crowdsourcing na ito!)
#74 brewhuh23 — cheer leader ka talaga, haha! May cheer-leading squad ba ang Volcanoes?
Hmm… so what should I call Jon?
Hon, as in Honnyko?
Jonnyko?
(OT: Ms Jessica, if I post daily reminders for Jon to take his meals on this blog post, there’s a good chance that it will have the most number of comments. Plus, may breakfast, elevensies, lunch, afternoon snacks, dinner, and supper pa, as we all know that Pinoys eat like hobbits.
Paano na yan, mga Jakelettes?)
December 14th, 2010 at 14:13

I will be getting the books on Thursday (Dec 16, 2010). To retrieve your copies, just post a schedule when and where we can meet, as long as you’re in the greenbelt/glorietta/landmark area. I’ll be available 8-5 if you’re willing to walk to our building :) Of course, lunch breaks and after 5 hours would be most convenient. I could also post my number here if it would be really necessary but for now just write away on the comments section. Please confirm if you would still go with your order. 1 copy=100 pesos ok! Confirm early so if you plan to forgo, maybe Ms. Zafra could still cancel yours. Thanks and God Bless!
December 14th, 2010 at 14:32
avignon: Thank you very much po! I know youre not part of the pool anymore, but thank you for helping. I really just want to get the books before xmas so i could give them as gifts. :)
December 14th, 2010 at 14:40
kmin kna? wg ka mgtom! I usually don’t miss lunch on weekdays because it doesn’t involve walking anywhere except downstairs to the dining room.
I think bisaya/cebauno (though my peoples are from zamboanga) is easier than ilocano because its closer to tagalog, which i can understand. Ilocano seems very different.
I have no idea who’s who from the meet and greet by screen names.
December 14th, 2010 at 17:47
You need words of encouragement, you can talk to me. You need someone to boost your ego, I’m the person to talk to hahaha. But really I was a cheerdancer in high school but I stopped in college but I was still into dancing after that
Uy kayo na daw sabi ni Jonnymo! Yiheeeeeeee!!!
December 14th, 2010 at 18:03
Aq poh b kausap mu? (Assuming!) Nde na me gtom. Kmin n poh aq ng lnch at 4:30 PM.
Wait a minute…you sound like a gradschool dormer. UP? International Center? Don’t “confeeerm” and don’t worry, I live too far to stalk you, and there is an ocean of Metro Manila traffic he– between us.
I have to agree that Bisaya is easier to learn, not to mention that there are more people who speak the language, so that makes it more practical as well.
Anyway, please don’t forget to eat meryenda and dinner.
December 14th, 2010 at 18:11
Pati ako nilalanggam dito, pero kainggit ka, you were once a cheerio. Ako, hanggang bleachers lang :(
I think he asked kung nag-lunch na. Opo, kaninang 4:30.
::virtual kilig!::
December 14th, 2010 at 18:40
#82 Kaye — Bakit ka nagjejejemon? Hahahaha! Hindi ako makaalis dito sa kilig haha… Ang cute nung post ni Jessica kina Jake, Gaz and Matt hahahaha!!!
Oo nabasa ko na! Dalian mo, meet up with Jon na!
December 14th, 2010 at 18:57
Ms. JZ, got the books na (19 copies). Thanks again!!!
December 15th, 2010 at 00:10
# 78 winnerific
hi winnerific! still pushing through with my order of two twisted9 copies. if it’s okay with you, i can give you my payment by tomorrow at greenbelt or landmark during lunch break as i’m just located along ayala avenue. it would be convenient if you give us your contact number. thanks in advance!
December 15th, 2010 at 00:11
#84 brewhh23 — I was just replying to Jon’s jejenese.
Jon–it took me a full minute to type that line of jejenese. Have you eaten your dinner? Huwag ka mag-puyat ha? Sweet dreams!
December 15th, 2010 at 01:58
Pahabol before I turn in for the night.
#80 jonnymo said: I have no idea who’s who from the meet and greet by screen names.
I can only identify three people in the second photo: you, Ms Jessica, and Brewhuh23. I should have dropped by, as the venue was just about a five-minute ride away from my place :(
December 15th, 2010 at 08:45
#88 Kaye — Sayang you could’ve gone and met us hehehe. Eh di kung nagkataon, ngayon kumakanta ka na o nakakarinig ka ng musical scoring sa utak mo ng some kind of a cheesy song, na tipong “A very special love” ni Maureen McGovern hahaha! Aminin mo, may mga ganyang factor pag na-iinlababo LOL! Uyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
Wow, you recognize me? Hehehe!
December 15th, 2010 at 09:45
# 86 sirius black:
check out my reply to your comment in the “Vortex” post. Thanks! :)
To all pool members:
Heres my number: 0949-612-4035. You can contact me for the details on how to retrieve your book/s or just post a comment here. Thanks!
December 15th, 2010 at 10:23
Hi Ms. Jessica, got the books last night. Thanks for signing them :)
December 15th, 2010 at 10:55
Sorry for the super late comment. I have just recovered from our Christmas Party of Exhaustion and Embarrassment.
I concede. Talo na ako when Kaye mentioned that she can cook because I don’t. I burn ingredients and leave them inedible. Though, I would still love to be his Bisaya tutor. hehehe (tigas ng mukha, ayaw pa ring kumalas)
Moving on, I think Bisaya and Cebuano are closer because a Bisaya can easily pass for a Cebuano in the Queen City regarding the language.
This may be slightly hard for me (ok, hard), but “langga” from “palangga” would be a good term of endearment. hehehe Ask anyone the meaning of this because I won’t. hehehe (bitter-bitteran)
December 15th, 2010 at 13:24
#89 brewhuh23 — Naku, ma-download nga ang song na yan. Kahapon pa ako nag-LSS ng pang-brokenhearted na kanta, for some reason, and it’s time to change tunes. And oo dear, I recognized you. Go figure.
#92 butoygirl — Peace tayo ha? Tutal Wednesday ngayon, ikaw ang tutor ni jonnyko, a.k.a., Hon (baka magtampo si Brewhuh pag di ko natawag na Hon). In the meantime, I will memorize the lyrics of “Matudnila”.
Hon–nag-lunch ka na ba? Don’t forget to drink lots of water din ha?
December 15th, 2010 at 15:17
Oo naman, madam. (ay! palindromes! ehehehe) Peace-loving ako, eh.
Let’s start with our Bisayan lessons then. Say “palihug”. It means “please”.
Example: “Ipasa mo nga ‘yang masarap na kanin, palihug lang?” or “Palihug, isarado imong dakong baba.” (Please, shut your big mouth.)
December 15th, 2010 at 19:38
Eeeeeeeeeeeee!
Kaye — I have a brilliant idea! Yiheeee! Kileeeeeeg!
December 16th, 2010 at 00:39
butoygirl — Cool, peace on earth tayo in the spirit of Christmas! Thanks sa aginaldo mong Bisaya pointers!
Brewhuh — Sa super reaction mo, mas kinilig ako. Hahaha! I’m starting to need the moral support dahil hindi pa sumasagot si jon since yesterday. Gusto ko rin mag-John Hughes Marathon when I’m done with Doctor Who. Layo ba ng genre?
Lanyard is a great idea. I wonder how many I should give jonnyko and in what designs? Pwede ko rin ba ibigay ang aking number ko, along with the number of all major food delivery services para makatawag sya in case he forgets to eat his meals? Hint!
Shucks, ang hirap mangligaw!
(Hon, don’t be afraid, we’re all normal around here. Have you eaten dinner? Please please don’t misplace your phone.)
December 16th, 2010 at 01:06
#96 Kaye — Hahaha, don’t fret baka busy lang. Ayaw naman nating ma- Stress Drilon si Jon (Hahaha, what’s with the rhyming?!).
Pano mo nga ba ibibigay ang lanyard? Esep-esep :)
December 16th, 2010 at 01:19
December 16th, 2010 at 01:27
Jessica — HAHAHAHA!
Kaye — What’s the plan, leche flan?
December 16th, 2010 at 01:33
Miss JZ: Paano kami aaksyon?
Kailan sya lilipad papuntang Amerika? Nakaka-torpe.
December 16th, 2010 at 01:34
Kaye at 12:39 am: Sheesh it’s been less than 24 hours and you’re already anxious. People could be busy. It’s Xmas party season. And they’re preparing for long trips. Relax.
December 16th, 2010 at 01:40
Kaye: Don’t just show up like stalkers, set an appointment.
He leaves this weekend. Tick-tock-tick-tock-tock.
Oy hinde, lagot kayo kay Harry. Naka-300+ comments yung picture niya at binabantayan niya na walang makalampas.
December 16th, 2010 at 01:42
Ay 100 na pala! I love this thread!
Help!
December 16th, 2010 at 01:44
#102 Jessica — Ayyyy competitive naman ni Harry!
Harry, don’t fret. I don’t think we’ll surpass the 300+ comment mark on your post :)
December 16th, 2010 at 01:45
Huwaaat! So soon!
Huwag magpatalo sa mga hubaderong jock with a book.
Kailan maisasalang si Jon sa JWAB? Marami pa naman syang textbooks.
December 16th, 2010 at 01:48
December 16th, 2010 at 01:52
#104 Brewhuh: Super competitive pala ang Lolo Harry.
Pero I won’t give up! Two sets to one lang ito, at braso pa lang ang ipinapakita ni Jonnyko. Makakahabol pa sa best-of-five before matchpoint!
December 16th, 2010 at 01:53
And about the options, ALL OF THE ABOVE lol!!!
December 16th, 2010 at 01:54
December 16th, 2010 at 01:59
Kaye: Ayyyy.
December 16th, 2010 at 02:01
Ay! Natorpe ako! What if sabihin nya, “No!”
Or worse: Dedma lang. As in, super dedma.
Or worst: Sabihin nya, “yes” tapos hindi sumipot!
Oh my heart!
(Peace, Harry!)
December 16th, 2010 at 02:03
December 16th, 2010 at 02:04
#110 Jessica — Mismo! Yun na! Ika nga ni Momelia, PAK!
December 16th, 2010 at 02:05
Hahaha! Desperate!
Note to self: Dapat, kayanin ng powers mo ito! Aja for Jon ahjussi!!
Ms JZ: Pag hinatid ko sya, that will be the craziest thing I will have done… so far!
The drama! Cue music! Pa-picture kami in front of the airport for evidence, hala!
(Brewhuh, sama ka? Kailangan ko ng moral support.)
Siempre, kailangan protektahan ang national treasures like our own volcanoes, di ba?
December 16th, 2010 at 02:06
December 16th, 2010 at 02:13
December 16th, 2010 at 02:14
At may clearance pa?
December 16th, 2010 at 02:18
December 16th, 2010 at 02:24
Kaye: That’s the spirit. Ask him. In any case he’ll be back in a couple of weeks.
A. Sasabunutan ang kalaban.
December 16th, 2010 at 02:27
brewhuh23: Cheerleader ka nga.
Teka, mag-o-offline ako ng 15 minutes. Ipagpatuloy ang usapan para maka-300 comments!
December 16th, 2010 at 02:34
Jessica — Nakakatawa ang letter B ha. Parang eksena sa pelikula!
Babae : *enter frame with tears falling from the left eye only* Fando, tigilan mo na ang kalokohang yan!
*exit frame*
Hahaha, kailangan ko na atang matulog LOL!
December 16th, 2010 at 02:40
Mas madalas yung mga go fight win moments hehe :)
December 16th, 2010 at 02:40
Wagiii!
::: Cue airport scene from “Love Actually” and Hugh Grant’s voiceover, with background music from The Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows” :::
Aba, naughty Saunderses! If they play in the same team, I won’t jinx the brothers by telling them “good luck!” The next thing I know, talo sya pati kay Bird-itch sa Wimbledon. Asar!)
Hindi ko pwede gawin ang A dahil more likely, nakabantay si Mommy Saunders. Hahaha!
December 16th, 2010 at 02:46
Kailangan madami akong options.
(Jon, are you done with packing? Huwag mo kakalimutan ang passport, ha? Ganun din ang telepono. Do you need the Globe OFW SIM para makapg-text tayo while you’re in the US?)
December 16th, 2010 at 02:58
#123 Kaye — Ayyy, maganda yung airport scene dun sa last part, yung sinundo ni Martine McCutcheon si Hugh Grant at biglang hinalikan. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Keri yan!
December 16th, 2010 at 03:01
December 16th, 2010 at 03:04
#121 Brewhuh — Magandang eksena yan!
Sweet dreams, hon! Please free up your schedule in the next two days :)
Salamat Ms JZ!
December 16th, 2010 at 03:10
Pahabol: Salamat Brewhuh! 126 comments na! Braso pa lang yan!
December 16th, 2010 at 03:17
December 16th, 2010 at 13:08
woah this thread blew up. I didn’t have internet yesterday because I stayed home from work so haven’t been checking. I had to do some serious skimming of the responses since my last one because reading too much tagalog in one sitting requires an incredible amount of concentration and makes my head spin. Unfortunately I can’t meet ya’ll tomorrow because I’m already committed to 4 parties and a 6 am flight on saturday morning, I hope my seatmate enjoys the aroma of stale tanduay rum…. (Welcome home Mr. Morales: My favorite part of dealing with INS sorry ‘ICE’)
I’ll be back in January though just a few weeks.
Also I’m way late on responding to some questions sorry Jessica!
December 16th, 2010 at 15:43
Wow, inabot din ng 130 comments to ah,lol. Patay tayo kay Harry :D
Kaye — Asan ka na? Nakatulog ka ba? Hehehehe…
December 16th, 2010 at 18:06
#130 jonnymo (ni Kaye hahaha) — Sorry if we bombarded the post with tagalog comments. Some things are funnier in Tagalog too so Kaye will just translate for you the things we’ve posted.
Enjoy the parties and have a safe flight to the US on Saturday!
December 16th, 2010 at 20:08
Hi, puwede mag suggest?
Required yan! So heto na. Ayan.
Cut to the next scene.
Edi shempre “i love you i love you-han na.” Ka-cheapang dialogue fiesta. O hayan, tapos.
The End.
Muahness from Pasig Citehh!
December 16th, 2010 at 22:09
Hahahahaha! Momelia, stop drinking that ammonia we bought when we meet Jake! Baka maubos hahaha!
By the way, in Taray & Teroy, is this were Randy Santiago showed Maricel Soriano his eyes?
December 16th, 2010 at 22:40
I mean the ammonia we will use when we meet Jake, gah!!!
Grabe Momelia ang mga ideas mo talaga! Tawang-tawa pa din ako dito, hahaha!!!
December 16th, 2010 at 22:55
Kaye: (singsong) Jon asked about you, Jon asked about you. I told him that we have never met. Introduce yourself!
December 16th, 2010 at 23:08
#136 Jessica : Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Kilig ako!!!
Kaye : Introduce yourself na! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!
December 16th, 2010 at 23:11
Gasp! Whoah! This thread DID REALLY blow up. 136 comments before this one! We’re gaining on the underwear jocks! (Not that I’m complaining, but I’m for the shirted one!)
December 16th, 2010 at 23:17
Masyado kang competitive hindi pa nga kayo nagkakakilala.
December 16th, 2010 at 23:48
Haha! (Peace, Harry and others! This is just an experiment.)
Back to essay writing. Na-pressure ako!
December 16th, 2010 at 23:50
#137 Brewhuh – Relax, mare! Bring out that bottle of ammonia. Or maybe we need a shot of valium to calm down?
December 17th, 2010 at 00:00
#136 Ms JZ: Did he really???
OK, even if he doesn’t say so in his comment, I’ll take your word for it. I’m a sucker that way, can you tell?
Right. So here goes the lamest self-introduction that’s ever hit the Interwebs…
Hi Jon! How are you? Have you eaten your dinner? I hope the Manila Christmas rush hasn’t driven you mad already. Ms JZ hasn’t met me yet, so you just have to take my word for it, that I don’t have a criminal record, I look as decent as my Facebook photos (well, some of them), I left UP many years ago, and I am a liiiiitle into sports too. I play badminton as a hobby.
The only WKW film that I’ve ever seen is ‘Chunking Express’ but I absolutely loved it. I like WW2 movies/series as well, and The Pacific, Band of Brothers, and Saving Private Ryan are among my favorites. I only discovered The Big Lebowski last year, and since then I’ve been a fan of The Dude and Jesus (“Nobody f**ks with the Jesus.”).
So that’s it for now. Have a great time at the parties and be careful with Tanduay. That stuff can get really nasty, and I learned that the hard way back in college when I thought I was a good match for a tub of alcohol. Oh those were the days…
###
(Brewhuh — Kailangan ko ulit ng moral support! Faints!)
December 17th, 2010 at 00:20
Question to Jon: You worked 90-hour (at least?) workweeks back in NYC. So when did Rugby come in?
December 17th, 2010 at 00:33
#133 Momelia: I knew it! First paragraph pa lang, I knew that scene was from Taray-Teroy, but the way you described everything was way funnier. Love the Antipolo part with bad choreography and hotdog ihaw-ihaw in the background, pero sshhh…may ipinagluluto ang Brew: si… si… Ectomorph!
Regal Films comes up with the silliest movies, and usually each film covers suspense, drama, action, sci-fi, comedy, and musical.
December 17th, 2010 at 00:55
Kaye: Send me the link to your facebook, I won’t post it but I’ll pass it on.
December 17th, 2010 at 11:11
#143 Kaye: It didn’t. I sort of would go run around with a D2 team in New York called the Village Lions during their practices and I think I played in one tournament with them but I barely had time to shower (the pearl on my blackberry stopped working because i was checking it in the shower so often) much less play rugby. After the two years of losing losing losing at Brown, one twisted MCL, one torn MCL, and nine concussions I figured I was done with rugby. Just wasn’t worth it anymore. I played a little bit in every city I was in after college but not very seriously and I would just sort of show up randomly. It wasn’t until I came to Manila that I really got back into it again. Actually I never intended to take rugby seriously here either, now somehow a year and change later every other non-work email I receive has to do with rugby in some fashion.
December 17th, 2010 at 16:58
#144 Kaye — Can’t wait for January so you 2 can meet up ^_^ Kilig talaga! Alam mo I completely missed the part that I’m the one cooking hotdogs in the background, LOL!
LOL! How I miss Maricel Soriano’s comedy films hahaha.
December 17th, 2010 at 17:17
#146 jonnymo: It looks like it was rugby that actually followed you around. Could it be that the game chooses the player? Did you ever consider playing another sport, something that doesn’t have a high chance of resulting in twisted or torn MCL (had to google this one) and nine (!!!) concussions?
Hat tip 1: Phosphorous in bananas works wonders for bones and joints, or so I heard.
Hat tip 2: Zip Loc can prevent your BB from getting drenched if you absolutely have to send BBMs in the shower. The down-side is that it takes the fun out of all that click-clicking motion to which BB users are addicted to.

And I thought I only had to wrangle with Butotoygirl (peace, day!)
Of course, you (and the fantabulous hotdog stand) are in the scene. Otherwise, hindi kumpleto and production ni Mother Lilly. Hahaha! I haven’t clicked the Like button on the PRFU page dahil madaling matrace.
Momelia — Bakit nga ba hotdog?
The last time I saw Maria was in her cameo on “Last Supper No. 3.” Galing nya doon!
OT: Ayeeeeeeeh! Dalawang comments na lang, 150 na! Milestone!

Hahaha, alam mo, it’s good na may competition. This is healthy :) Go lang, may malilibreng time ka pa niyan sa January, I’m sure. And I’m an advocate of the cliche that goes,”If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me.” or something to that effect — Bow!
Naisip ko nga din kasi nga di ba parang excursion (or as my grade school Science teacher says “eksarsiyon”!) yung scene sa resort sa Antipolo, baka kaya hotdog yung niluluto ko. So kung kayo ni Hon si Maria and Ratsky, ako si Manilyn or Jolina or kung sino yung support ni Maria hahaha.

I don’t have a blackberry anymore thank god. I’m not responsible enough to own that sort of technology.
I used to play a lot of sports besides rugby when I was younger: basketball, soccer, tennis, and ice hockey all pretty seriously but none appealed to me like rugby did and does. Maybe i’ll try to explain it sometime but I’ll probably get all gooey and sentimental if I do. One thing though is that the high risk really makes you feel alive and helps me concentrate and focus like nothing else does.

Great! Would love to read it on the next “Ask Jon” entries and please do include all the gooey and sentimental stuff.
In the meantime, have a happy Christmas!
