Greetings from the planet Hoth

Wherever you are on this planet we hope that you are warm and safe and Han Solo is on his way to get you.
Happy New Year, readers. If the Mayans are correct and the world will end in 2012, then it’s our last chance to do all the things we’ve been telling ourselves we’re going to do “someday”. Someday may be here, people.
Our Someday List (partial)
1. St. Petersburg, the Sahara, Patagonia, Kilimanjaro, Macchu Picchu, Antarctica
2. The major works of Dostoevsky and Tolstoy (reduced from “all”)
3. Philip Roth (Have only read The Breast)
4. The complete Aubrey-Maturin series by Patrick O’Brian
5. The Moon

Happy New Year to you as well, Jessica! I recommend Sabbath’s Theater and of course Portnoy’s Complaint by Philip Roth. I still have to read the Zuckerman books, which I have lying around in my room, somewhere…
My first book for 2011 is The Monster of Florence. (I started like 30 minutes ago) I will probably spend New Year’s Day reading it, it’s that gripping.

American Pastoral bored me. Boring boring boring! Ugh. And his prose is not that great.

Happy new year Jessica!
On my “someday” list, I’ve been dreaming of having a big bookshelf that would really carry all my books (and future books). Been looking high and low for THE bookshelf then I stumbled upon this >>> http://www.cubit-shop.com/en#5
I’m head over heels! Will definitely have that this 2011 :)

my someday list
– visit the louvre in spring or summer
– actually go to the beach during summer and not during the non-peak season coz it’s cheaper but colder brrr
– make a movie
– play the bass guitar
– actually use my sewing machine :)
last week, my boss gave me a notebook, a not so discrete hint that i should take down notes to somehow overcome my lack of time management skills.. another friend also gave me a notebook.. it seems there’s a message there somewhere :)
i guess a someday list would be good for setting life goals too..

happy 2011, jessica!
i second the recommendations of howcomebubblegum: read sabbath’s theater and then portnoy’s complaint. patrimony, if non-fiction.
(ive read only seven of Roth’s books though; there are I think 25+ by now).
i have an extra shrink wrapped copy of Sabbath’s Theater. can leave at NBS Rockwell, if you still dont have it.
thank you for blogging 2010 all year round. no one can match your output.
Happy new year!

Happy New Year all! My goal this year is the same as the previous years – personal gain. Always. As my uncle Baron Harkonnen would say “Self-interest governs all”.

Happy New Year and Happy New Dear to all of you.
Between now and 2012, my only goal is to win one – JUST ONE, PLLLZZZZZ – LitWit Challenge. Then I’ll die happy.
