But after seeing the film today, I could somewhat understand his vision now. I love how Jackson is using some of the extra time to weave The Hobbit tighter to the LotR storyline. Now I find myself thinking: if only the LotR trilogy had the same leisure, we could have had the scouring of the shire, or could have seen Eowyn shine more.

It would be great to watch the 6 movies together once the next two are released. Now I wish Jackson could insert Radagast scenes into LotR (Orthanc). :D

I don’t know what the other reviewers saw in the cinema – probably non-fans who never read the books, who are only familiar with the old cast. I don’t understand why they are expecting so much gravitas – this is a movie about a hobbit in an adventure.

I love everything, especially Martin Freeman! Also, what’s the big deal about the frame rate? But then I saw the non-3D version (we need Asian-friendly glasses). The only problem I had was imagining how they can extend the thing into 3 movies… but then I don’t care! I want to watch the next!!!

Gollum!!!hahah ok i snorted my hot choco reading this. And wow you get to see the premier tonight!! argh, i am green with envy!! I’m still waiting to hear from a friend of a friend to score a ticket. I will, as always, wait for your review with bated breath and hope it delivers. I am also intrigued with the 48 frames per second /high-frame-rate 3-D technology though some said it was dizzying.

I read the book just recently but was surprised it was only very short and very light considering the heaviness and length of the LOTR. I read somewhere that Peter Jackson based some of the plots in the storyline from the appendices/ glossary of the LOTR books, so I’m raking up the attic to review said books.

I have been wired since the rumors started of the hobbit being made into a film. Disappointed when Peter Jackson wasn’t the first one assigned to helm it then yay, he agreed to do it again! I think those directors knows he’s the only one who can actually do it.

Is it weird though that the most I am excited to see is the special effect Smaug and the Necromancer (who was mentioned maybe once but did not make any actual appearance in the book but I heard will make a brief one in the movie)? After watching the new Star Trek 2 trailer, who can blame me? Oh my that voice…

Maybe they used other Tolkien material to make The Hobbit a trilogy. I saw a book(edited by Christopher Tokien of course under the auspices of the Tolkien estate) on a bookshelf which dealt on the dwarves and the timeline, I think, coincided with the events in The Hobbit.
