Your support is more solid than the Iron Bank of Braavos. Thank you.
The day after we were admitted to the hospital, friends told us that several media outlets carried reports of our incarceration mysterious affliction. They all pointed out that being a freelance writer we have no health insurance, and called for donations.
Our initial reaction was embarrassment because we have a horror of being an object of pity. We got over it quickly—it’s not as if we could deny anything.
And then something truly awesome happened.
We knew we could count on the kindness of our friends, who do not even have to be asked. What we did not expect was the generosity of total strangers, people we have never met, random readers and anonymous donors who gave just because they could.
If there is a clearer, more concise way of saying We Got Your Back, it hasn’t occurred to us. Thank you. Your humanity and support are more solid than the backing of the Iron Bank of Braavos itself.
Now let’s take over something.
Na-ospital kami, nag-trending na. Bongga na rin.

Glad to know that you’re back.
When I read the plea on Facebook, I thought you would react as you described in the second paragraph (Oh no, Zafra won’t like it being known that she has no insurance.). But help is help. And the important thing is that you are writing again.
Take good care of yourself.

jessica, di ko man lang nalaman na na-ospital ka pero i was really worried when this blog hadn’t been updated for days.. so unusual.. i just found out yesterday na nag trending ka nga (congrats! always a silver lining in every cloud!).
though i have no means to help financially now, my thoughts are with you for your complete recovery.
btw, incidentally, youtube was banned in Turkey due to politically-related reasons for about two months. it had been un-banned in the last few days. might be a coincidence with your recovery but heyyy your good health is bringing good news too :)

Nice to see you back. He he, may twitter si Mama. Sabi ko you have published works sa Anvil. Nag-worry sya bigla. Mom’s a retired librarian and good friend of Ms. Bolasco.
Maiba ako, manonood ba kayo ng International Premiere Tennis League sa November? Nandun daw si Agassi tsaka Sampras.

very happy when we stopped seeing the “the worst flu we’ve ever had” banner at the top of the page. :D
