The obsessive perfectionism of Chris Ware
On Free Comic Book Day we dropped by our neighborhood bookstore and came upon this.
Building Stories by Chris Ware had arrived! We blinked and looked again to make sure we weren’t hallucinating, then we grabbed the box from the shelf—it’s heavy—and dashed to the counter lest someone attempt to take it from us.
The box contains 14 separate books, magazines, newspapers and pamphlets by one of the finest graphic novelists working today. We spent half an hour marveling at the box before we could bring ourselves to open it.
We don’t know which piece to read first, but we intend to read every line and every frame.
Building Stories by Chris Ware is available at National Bookstores for Php2099. The illustrations are so meticulous and precise, we feel like we underpaid.

geeksturr: One doesn’t read Chris Ware for happiness.
Jimmy Corrigan is unremitting melancholy.
